We are excited to announce that in 2017, we created a new non-profit organization in Québec called Tradicaux! Our vision for Tradicaux is multifaceted, and a key purpose for the creation of this organization is to have it officially back the production of Ooh La La Dance Weekend. In addition to this, we are aspiring to expand on the events and learning opportunities we can offer enthusiasts of traditional music and dance in the future.
- To promote multigenerational and intercultural interaction through traditional music and social dance in ways that are accessible, nurture people individually, and nurture the community as a whole.
- To promote and enable sustainability and integrity within communities through sharing the wealth and/or opportunities generated by this organization’s activities. Examples include: Sourcing ingredients for event meals from local, organic farms; providing volunteer opportunities at events so that a spectrum of ages and income brackets can participate; engaging and including local residents, especially when the activities attract a large number of participants from away; considering the impact of what we fuel when we as an organization patronize a business or establishment along the way, and making the best choices we can with social and environmental responsibility in mind.
- To provide education opportunities in traditional music and dance.
